And witness the poetry of life on the edge...
NOW HIRING!
Arts Administration Interns
(Summer 2008: May through July/ Fall 2008: September
through December)
Any student with a serious interest in theatre should
spend some time seeing how a production comes to fruition
from the other side of the footlights - the administrative
office! Gain valuable hands-on experience while assisting
the Artistic Director with the day-to-day management
of Chicago's most intimate Equity theatre. Working
with a mid-sized theatre offers an intern the opportunity
to explore varied interests in marketing, development,
and operations.
Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing season scripts and brainstorming appropriate
marketing outlets
- Maintaining A Red Orchid's database of patrons and
company associates
- Updating our archive of actor headshots as specified
by the Artistic Director
- Contacting actors to schedule audition times for
upcoming productions
- Assisting the Box Office Manager with reservations
for current productions
- Providing general office support within our administrative
offices
Arts Administration interns should expect to commit
10 hours per week during regular business hours (12pm-5pm).
Daytime scheduling is flexible to accommodate students'
coursework, and evening hours can be arranged occasionally.
The term of the internship is one academic semester,
and we are happy to arrange college credit to meet
degree requirements. While the internship position
is otherwise unpaid, interns are entitled to complimentary
tickets to A Red Orchid Theatre productions and often
by assodiation to other area theatres.
Interested applicants should submit a cover letter
and resume by April 18 for Summer and by July
1 for Fall 2008 to:
Kirsten Fitzgerald, Artistic Director
